About Julie

Introduction

My writing comes from lived experience, quiet reflection, and the lessons that show up when life becomes heavy. I have learned that strength is not always loud. Sometimes it looks like getting through the day, caring for someone else while carrying your own worries, or choosing to keep going when the future feels unclear.

Over time, I began to see how powerful simple words can be. A short sentence can calm the mind, soften fear, and remind someone that they are not alone. Writing became a place where I could process what I was feeling, make sense of what I had lived through, and turn those thoughts into something gentle and useful for others.

My hope is to share words that encourage self-awareness, emotional resilience, and a steadier way forward, especially for anyone who needs comfort, clarity, or a quiet reminder that hope still matters.

My Story

I entered the healthcare field through work as a Chinese interpreter and intermediary. That experience taught me how much communication matters, not only the words we use, but the patience behind them. I often found myself helping people express what they were feeling, understand what was being asked of them, and feel a little less overwhelmed in situations that can be frightening or confusing. In those moments, I saw how much comfort comes from being understood.

Later, during the Covid pandemic, I served in caregiving spaces where loneliness, fear, and emotional exhaustion were part of everyday life. Many people were carrying quiet pain. Some felt isolated from their families. Others were struggling with uncertainty and the emotional weight of what the world had become. Being close to that reality changed me. It made me more aware of how fragile people can feel, and how much strength it takes to face each day when life does not feel stable.

In that environment, I learned that small acts of kindness carry real power. Sometimes it was a steady presence. Sometimes it was listening without judgment. Sometimes it was simply offering a few sincere words at the right moment. Over time, people began telling me that my words brought them peace and encouragement, and that stayed with me.

I began writing more intentionally, at first as a way to process my own emotions and make sense of what I was witnessing. Writing helped me slow down, reflect honestly, and face feelings that were difficult to name. Eventually, those reflections became pages. Those pages became something I felt called to share. That is how my journey as an author began, not from chasing attention, but from wanting to offer something meaningful and steady for others who might be carrying their own burdens.

Why I Write

I did not start writing to chase attention. I started writing because life gave me experiences that needed a response. Writing became a way to stay honest with myself, to take what felt heavy and turn it into something clearer. It helped me understand my own emotions and see situations with more compassion, not only for others, but also for myself. I believe many people are trying to be strong while carrying things they rarely speak about. My goal is to offer words that feel steady and real, words that help someone pause, breathe, and remember that they still have strength inside them. Writing, to me, is not performance. It is a form of encouragement and a quiet way of reaching out.

About the Book

Poetry of Self-Importance: Motivation and Self-Awareness is a collection of reflections on hope, growth, and inner strength. It is written for anyone who wants a calmer mind, a clearer perspective, or a reminder that life can still hold meaning even after painful seasons. This book invites readers to look within, not with harsh judgment, but with honesty and care. The message is not about being perfect. It is about becoming more aware, more grounded, and more willing to move forward. If even one page helps a reader feel encouraged, then the book has done what I hoped it would do.

What I Hope You Find Here

I hope my work brings comfort, perspective, and encouragement. I hope it feels like a safe space to reflect, especially for anyone who feels overwhelmed, uncertain, or emotionally tired. My writing is meant to support the small but meaningful steps, the moments when someone chooses to keep going even when it is hard.

This website is also a place to learn more about my book, explore reader responses, and connect with me directly.

What I Value

I value honesty, compassion, and the quiet kind of strength that keeps people moving forward. I believe self-awareness helps us live with more patience and clarity, especially when life feels uncertain.

My words are meant to feel steady and sincere, not complicated or perfect. If something I write helps you feel calmer, more understood, or more hopeful, that is enough.
